Photos from the Feb 6, 2010 SNMS Playday have been posted here. There are a few left to go, but I'll probably only post about half of what was taken. If you would like a CD of all pictures taken of your car or bike, you can use the Contact Us link to send me a note.
Turnout was real good as more people were showing up even as I was leaving the track around 4 PM. I tried to get pictures of everyone, but if I missed you I apologize.
Sunday, January 31 was a GREAT day for me! Why you ask? Because I got to spend the afternoon at a RACE TRACK! And to make it even better, there were race cars on the track! As a motor-sports photographer, it doesn't get much better than that!!
Granted, it was just a playday, but I enjoy being around racers, race tracks and race cars and it doesn't make a lot of difference to me whether they are racing or playing.
My primary reason for going over to White Sands Speedway on this particular day was to check out the possibility of video taping the upcoming non-winged sprint car race scheduled for Feb 13 & 14. I have already received permission to record the race, but needed to make sure some power would be available to the camera position and hopefully be able to tap into their PA system for some good clear audio of the announcer. The good news is that I think it's going to work out real well. Unexpected problems are part of the game, but I'm looking forward to taping my first event at the Tularosa track.
Photos taken at the track are online here.
Today, I contacted Mr. McCutcheon at White Sands Speedway to see if it would be possible for me to come over and record the upcoming two-day show on Feb 13 & 14. He indicated that the track would have no problem with that, so the race has been put on my schedule as the first race of the 2010 season! Since I've never recorded an event at White Sands Speedway, only taken still photos once or twice, I will be going to the track this Sunday, Jan 31, to check out the facility and see if it will be possible to record a feed from the PA system like we do at EPSP and SNMS. It would be nice if that's possible, but I can't promise that the audio will be the same as you are accustomed to hearing on the EPSP and SNMS DVDs.
I will also be taking some still photos during practice sessions this Sunday, so if anyone who's planning to be there would like a particular shot, look me up and I'll try to get it for you. You can usually find me running around on a yellow Honda quad.
